Young people classed as disaffected or disengaged, particularly those who spend their lives in urban areas, can benefit considerably from being immersed in natural environments. These benefits are hugely increased when the engagement in nature is in the form of purposeful outdoor experiences. We will provide bespoke activities in the outdoors to engage young people to develop their wellbeing, resilience, mental health and relationships which can so often be barriers to their learning.
Our courses include discovery, experimentation, creativity, learning about and connecting to the natural world in environments that can include moorland, woodland and the glorious coastline of the Gower Peninsula. Because of the nature of the courses there are numerous opportunities for cross curricular learning which can be planned or incidental to the focus of the day. The young people will participate in adventurous activities that will challenge them to succeed and to reflect on their experiences.
Courses will be located within easy access of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and South Carmarthenshire and can be developed as single day interventions or regular activities over several weeks, a term or even the whole year. Our principal instructor, Rob Lloyd, is very experienced in developing positive relationships with challenging young people and is a trainer with Pivotal Education, specialists in leading behaviour change https://pivotaleducation.com.
